At Alston School we are committed to ensuring that we induct pupils through a carefully organised process making sure that pupils settle happily and make a good start.

In order to apply for an in-year place at our school you will need to request an application form from the main office or by e-mailing 



We ask for the following information to be provided in order to register a child:




Full Birth Certificate




Proof of Address (Official document that states where the child lives, not parent)


Tax Credit Letter


Child Benefit Letter


Hospital/GP Letter


Once this information has been provided a member of the office team will complete an application form with you in order to add your child to the waiting list.


Please do not be offended when asked to provide the above as this is the same procedure for every individual that wants to register for a place at Alston Primary School or any other school.

For 2022-23 Reception School Places: please follow the link which will direct you to Admissions & Appeals. You will then need to apply online for the school of your choice. The deadline to apply by is 15th January 2023.


Application period starts - 1st October 2022

Closing date for applications - 15th January 2023

National offer day - 17th April 2023

Deadline for submitting appeals - 16th May 2023

Appeal hearings for appeals submitted on time -  18th July 2023

Term starts -  4th September 2023
