Business Enterprise

W/C 20th June 2016

We are currently taking part in a Business Enterprise Project. Each child has worked within a small group to create a business plan to calculate the cost of making and selling a product whilst considering their target market. Each group has then delivered a presentation to Mrs Hall before signing a loan agreement to receive the money to start up their businesses.

Have a look in this weeks newsletter for some advertisements of the products that will be on sale!

Diversity Day

Monday 16th May 2016

Today we embraced Diversity Day where we learnt how to accept everybody regardless of our differences.

Year 6 focused upon the story of 'The Island' by Armin Greder. This story depicts fear of strangers which results in exclusion from the unknown and highlights the importance of relationships and acceptance. We created comic strips summarising this story and in the afternoon we experienced tasks that are more challenging for people with additional needs.

Congratulations to 6S for raising the highest amount and thank you all for the kind donations we received.

Bronze Ambassadors

10th March 2016

Today our year 6 Bronze Ambassadors of sport completed their third training session at Small Heath Leisure Centre. The day was focused around practical activities that could be used for an intra school event or activities that could be played in a change for life club. The idea was to not to think so much about specific sports, but rather than fun activities that could engage all, whilst also thinking about improvising with equipment.

Our Bronze Ambassadors will soon be finalising their chosen Sports Crew and begin to plan their intra school event.

Shackleton's Journey

W/C 7th March 2016

In our English lessons we have been reading the book Shackleton's Journey by William Grill.

Ernest Shackleton dreamed of being the first person to cross the Antarctic continent from sea to sea and on the 8th of August 1914 he set off with his brave crew to cross the vast south polar continent.

We have all written letters to apply for a job on board Shackleton's ship - Endurance.

Do you think our applications would have been successful?
