Value of the Month

Value of the Month

Aim

Values are principles that guide behaviour. At Alston Primary School, it is our aim to raise standards by promoting a school ethos which is underpinned by core values. These values support the development of the whole child as a reflective learner within a calm, caring, happy and purposeful atmosphere.

At Alston Primary School, adults are encouraged to model values and to give time for reflective practices. We believe that this empowers individuals to be effective learners and good citizens.

Our philosophy underpins our work to actively promote fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those from all faiths, backgrounds and cultures.  A rounded programme of assemblies and events promote children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, enabling them to develop their own moral and ethical compass to guide what is right and what is wrong.

Value of the Month Assemblies

The ethos of our school is built on a foundation of 22 core Values, delivered over a 2-year rolling cycle, which are addressed directly through assemblies and across the whole curriculum.

On the first Monday of each month a new value is introduced. We learn to understand what the value looks like and how we can demonstrate the value, in the way we behave, in our attitude towards each other and in our learning.
