Tuesday 10th July 2018 - Our parents loved our Art Exhibition for our Cornerstones topic ‘Urban Pioneers’ today. What a fantastic turnout! Well done children!

Monday 9th July 2018 - Cornerstones - We are designing and making our ‘Cities of the Future’ for our Express art projects this week.

Wednesday 4th July 2018 - Sports Day was great fun this afternoon with all the children enjoying their races.

Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 5th July 2018 - Cornerstones - Innovate Challenge - We loved working together to create our urban artwork using diffent mediums of our own choice. We are looking forward to showing our parents in our Express art exhibition next week.

Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd July 2018 - Mathematics - We have been learning about capacity in Maths this week.

Friday 29th June 2018 - Collective Worship - A lively and fun assembly this morning was enjoyed by the children with brothers, sisters and friends in 2A. Very informative about the background of The World Cup.

Friday 29th June 2018 - RE - We have been learning about the Sikh festival of Baisakhi and making posters for a festival to celebrate it.

Thursday 28th June 2018 - Maths - To round off our learning about shapes we have been identifying the properties they have and making them from their nets.

Wednesday 27th June 2018 - Maths - Our Anchor Task was great fun today. We were investigating which 2D shapes can be found in the nets of common 3D solids. A great way to recap our knowledge of both 2D and 3D shapes.

Wednesday 27th June 2018 - Science - Our Cornerstones ‘Love to Investigate’ for this half term was called, “Why do cat’s eyes glow at night?”. We carried out an investigation to find out which materials are reflective and which are non-reflective.

Tuesday 26th June 2018 - English - We are writing friendship stories based on Charlotte’s Web written by E. B. White. We found that this relates to Article 15 of the Rights of the Child - The right to meet together and join groups (Freedom of Association).

Friday 22nd June 2018 - Collective Worship - Well done 5A! We loved watching your fantastic assembly about Eid today. The dancing was great and everyone spoke confidently about the celebration.

Friday 22nd June 2018 - Computing - We recorded videos of our partners talking about their time in Year 3. When we were happy with our video we learnt how to make a QR code for it. We found out that QR stands for ‘Quick Response’ and was invented for the Japanese car industry in 1994.

Thursday 14th June 2018 - It was a hive of activity in Year 3 this afternoon! We were busy bees making our Eid AND our Father’s Day cards!

Wednesday 13th June 2018 - Brake Kids Charity event - Today we wore our sporty clothes to school and took part in a ‘15 minute mile’ to raise money for the Brake Kids Charity.

Tuesday 12th June 2018 - English - This week we planned and wrote our own information texts about the canals that are one of Birmingham’s popular tourist attractions.

Monday 11th June 2018 - No Outsiders - We learnt about discrimination through listening to the story ‘This is Our House’ by Michael Rosen. Afterwards we made our own ‘No Descrimination’ posters.

Monday 11th June 2018 - RE - We were thinking about the Prophet Nuh today and how he listened to God’s whisper. We worked cooperatively, in silence, so that we could understand how to listen and observe like Prohpet Nuh did in the story.

Friday 8th June 2018 - UNCRC lesson - Do you know what the Rights of the Child are? We were finding out about them today.

Tuesday 5th June 2018 - Cornerstones Memorable Experience - We went on a guided coach tour around Birmingham to start our new topic of Urban Pioneers. We learnt lots of interesting facts such as the number of trees in Birmingham - ask one of the children if you want to know the answer!

Thursday 24th May 2018 - Charity Event to raise money for The Red Cross - We enjoyed watching Charlotte's Web this afternoon with our drinks and snacks.

Wednesday 23rd May 2018 - Diversity Day - We thought about how our mental wellbeing is just as important as our physical wellbeing by taking part in a variety of learning experiences.

Monday 21st May 2018 - Our Cornerstones Express to parents was a great success. Thank you to all who came to share your children's work.

Friday 18th May 2018 - We all had a wonderful time celebrating the Royal Wedding 🎩.

Thursday 17th May 2018 - English - Today we were performing our own plays. Here we are deciding who was going to play each part.

Thursday 10th May - Collective Worship - Learning to appreciate our talents and gifts and thinking about how we all have a part to play. We listened to some music by the composer John Williams and the children had these thoughts about him:

"He is not just a composer. He is also a conductor of orchestras." Aqsa

"He uses a baton to tell the people in the orchestra to play faster or slower and when to start or stop playing." Zara

"John Williams was only six when he started composing so he is very talented!" Muzamel

Wednesday 9th May 2018 - PSHE - We talked about the different ways our parents pay for things. The children said that they use cash, cards and cheques. They discussed the advantages and disadvantages of paying by either cash or card.

"You can only spend what you have when you use cash." Rehan

Friday 4th May 2018 - Year 3 were sent lovely personal invitations to watch a Year 4 assembly this morning. It taught us all such a lot about kindness. What are you going to do as a RAK today?

Thursday 3rd May 2018 - In Computing we are learning how to send emails using 2Email because we can learn about online safety at the same time.

Wednesday 2nd May 2018 - We were learning about the Viking runic alphabet this afternoon in our Cornerstones lesson. We had great fun making our clay runes and are looking forward to painting them next week!

Tuesday 24th April 2018 - Professor McGinty and his Mobile Museum came to visit Year 3 today. It was a fabulous learning experience for all and a great way to move forward with our new Cornerstones topic of Traders and Raiders.
