Hello to all our new Reception children and their Mummies and Daddies!
This year we have lots of exciting activities planned and we cannot wait to work alongside your child to help them grow into independent and confident little people.
On this page you will be able to find out all the exciting and fun things your child has been up to in school.
So make sure you keep checking this page for regular updates!
Please remember to come to your child's welcome meeting.
It is on Tuesday 29th September at 2:30pm.
The meeting will be held in the Millennium room.
It is important that you attend this meeting if possible.
Today was Safety day at school and we learnt all about how to stay safe on the computer. We know we have to tell our Mummy and Daddy if we see anything strange on the computer.
We learnt how to cross the road safely making sure we look left and right using our green cross code.
We learnt about fire safety. We know our fire exits and that we call 999 if we see a fire.
Now you have seen all the amazing videos we watched which taught us how to be safe on the computer, road and if we see a fire. Now have a look at all the fun activities we did.
Don't forget Mummies and Daddies the story teller is visiting school on Wednesday 30th September 2015.
We will be sharing stories and watching a performance of 'Jack and The Beanstalk'
Today we had our Eid Party and we had lots of fun!
We played musical statues and musical bumps. We had a dancing competition and played games outside like duck duck goose. Then we decorated some Eid pictures.

The story teller
Today we had our story teller visit. It was so much fun. We listened to Jack and the beanstalk, Three billy goats gruff and The Gingerbread man.

Black History Day!
Today was Black History Day and we learnt all about a little girl called Ruby Bridges aged 6 from Mississippi. She was a very brave little girl. We also made some African drums and did some weaving. Not forgetting we made some pasta necklaces. It was so much fun! look below to see how much fun we had.
Come on mums and dads we are collecting food for charity and need as many cans of food as possible.
So parents please bring in tins of soup, beans & peas anything to help us out!
Well done Mummies and Daddies look at how much food we have collected. Amazing!!! Lets see if we can get even more food!!!

What did RS do today?

Your children need to come into school wearing pink or blue.

Today we visited the Health Caravan!
We learnt all about our body, how to stay healthy and why we need to keep clean.
We also met Harold the Giraffe!

Thank you Mummies, Aunties and Brothers for coming to the phonic workshop today. We hope you enjoyed it. Please try some of the tips we showed you at home. They are simple and really easy to resource and will help your child with their reading and writing.

Birmingham Cathedral Trip
Today we visited the Cathedral in Birmingham City Centre. It was so much fun! We learnt all about the Nativity Story. We looked at the beautiful stain glass windows and we had the chance to make some Christmas cards. We also sang some Christmas carols like little donkey and away in manger.

Word books- 06.01.16.
Today the children in RS took home a special book. Each child can use this book to practise reading and writing the High Frequency Words that children in Reception are expected to be able to recognise and use in their own writing. By supporting your child with this learning you are helping them to become super independent writers.
Thank you to RS families for continuing to help with homework each night.
We are looking forward to seeing lots of parents at the Maths Workshop on Wednesday 13th January. Please try to join us to work with your child and have lots of fun learning about ways to help your child with their Number skills.
Don't forget to sign up for the Parent Workshop which starts on Friday. You can explore lots of exciting ways to support your child in Maths.
Don't forget Parents evening next Thursday the 28th 2016. Get your slip into the office fast to secure your time.
Don't forget the Animal man is coming in on Tuesday 2nd February 2016 so get your £1 in quickly to ensure your child enjoys the fun filled morning.
