Hello to all our new Reception children and their Mummies and Daddies! 

This year we have lots of exciting activities planned and we cannot wait to work alongside your child to help them grow into independent and confident little people.

 

On this page you will be able to find out all the exciting and fun things your child has been up to in school.

So make sure you keep checking this page for regular updates!

 

 

Please remember to come to your child's welcome meeting.

It is on Tuesday 29th September at 2:30pm.

The meeting will be held in the Millennium room.

 

It is important that you attend this meeting if possible.

Today was Safety day at school and we learnt all about how to stay safe on the computer. We know we have to tell our Mummy and Daddy if we see anything strange on the computer.

We learnt how to cross the road safely making sure we look left and right using our green cross code.

We learnt about fire safety. We know our fire exits and that we call 999 if we see a fire.

Child Focus 'E-safety'

One of the key missions of Child Focus is prevention. This clip was made as an e-safety awareness campaign for children between 4 and 8 years.

Child Road Safety - King of the road

Make sure you look left and right when crossing the road to keep safe! Always stay with an adult and hold their hand and always wait for the green man before you start walking. :)

smileyToday we had our Eid Party and we had lots of fun!smiley

We played musical statues and musical bumps. We had a dancing competition and played games outside like duck duck goose. Then we decorated some Eid pictures.

The story teller

Today we had our story teller visit. It was so much fun. We listened to Jack and the beanstalk, Three billy goats gruff and The Gingerbread man.

Black History Day!

02.10.15

Today was Black History Day and we learnt all about a little girl called Ruby Bridges aged 6 from Mississippi. She was a very brave little girl. We also made some African drums and did some weaving. Not forgetting we made some pasta necklaces. It was so much fun! look below to see how much fun we had.

HANDA'S HEN

We also watched this video all about Handa. She was trying to find her Hen and searched high and low. Watch it for yourself to see if she finds it.

Harvest Festival!

Come on mums and dads we are collecting food for charity and need as many cans of food as possible.

So parents please bring in tins of soup, beans & peas anything to help us out!

What did RS do today?

Today me and the children built an aeroplane. We decided to go to Pakistan. Laiba was the pilot. We had to make sure we put our seat belts on to stay safe. Laiba told us we where going really fast so needed them. Have a look below at our amazing aeroplane. :) 16.10.15

Reminder!

Our new story for this term is - HANDA'S SURPRISE - Picture Book- Animation

Handa puts seven delicious fruits in a basket to take to her friend, Akeyo. But as she walks, carrying the basket on her head, various creatures steal her fruits. A monkey takes the banana, an ostrich the guava, a zebra the orange, an elephant the mango, a giraffe the pineapple, an antelope the avocado and a parrot the passion fruit.

Birmingham Cathedral Trip

14/12/15

Today we visited the Cathedral in Birmingham City Centre. It was so much fun! We learnt all about the Nativity Story. We looked at the beautiful stain glass windows and we had the chance to make some Christmas cards. We also sang some Christmas carols like little donkey and away in  manger.

RS-Xmas Party! 17/12/15

We played musical statues, musical bumps and the best dancer competitions. We ate loads of food crisps, chocolate, ice cream and had some yummy juice as well. We had a lovely day topped off with presents off Miss Sethi! :)

Word books- 06.01.16.

Today the children in RS took home a special book. Each child can use this book to practise reading and writing the High Frequency Words that children in Reception are expected to be able to recognise and use in their own writing. By supporting your child with this learning you are helping them to become super independent writers.

Thank you to RS families for continuing to help with homework each night.

Maths Workshop
