Road Safety

Fire Safety

Today was Safety day at school and we learnt all about how to stay safe on the computer. We know we have to tell our Mummy and Daddy if we see anything strange on the computer.

We learnt how to cross the road safely making sure we look left and right using The Green Cross Code.

We learnt about fire safety. We know our fire exits and that we need to call 999 if we hear the fire alarm or see a fire.

Please remember to check that your smoke detector is working at home.

What do you remember about the Queen?

Did you celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee at your school when you were little?

We made some collages of the Queen using the colours of the British flag and our own crowns to celebrate. Take a look below to find out about our Queen.

Floating and Sinking

This week we have been thinking about which items float  and which items sink in water. We have a few ideas about why some things float while other things sink.

Help your child to notice what happens when you put something into water. It will help your child to test any ideas we talked about in our floating and sinking activities.

Jack and Jill.

This week we have been thinking about the traditional nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. Why not sing along to the video below with your child.

Share this wonderful story to hear which animal is finally chosen as a pet.

"Dear Zoo" by Rod Campbell.

Mrs Tippin visited us in RH today.

We have been thinking about all the lovely food that is cooked for us at school. Mrs Tippin came to visit us in RAK. She told us about the different jobs she does in the school kitchen. The kitchen staff make a delicious and healthy lunch for us each day. We have been talking about eating all of our lunch so we do not have lots of wasted food. We promised to eat our vegetables and to try all the food. Mrs Tippin makes a delicious snack for us each day. We have lots of energy because we eat up all our delicious food.

Remember to eat your vegetables!

We will find out about the cheeky animals that take Handa's fruit from the basket. Which animal is your favourite? You could visit a safari park or zoo to see the animals for yourself.

A monkey takes the banana, an ostrich the guava, a zebra the orange, an elephant the mango, a giraffe the pineapple, an antelope the avocado and a parrot the passion fruit.

Singing songs and rhymes in RH

We love singing in RH. We sing all sorts of songs to help us to learn in a fun way.

Today we decided we wanted to put these songs on our class page so we can sing with everyone at home.

We love the tunes and we can join in with all the letter sounds and numbers now.

You can challenge your child by asking what the next number or letter will be.

Firefighters Visit!

Everyone in Reception had an amazing time meeting the Fire-fighters from Ward End Fire-station.

We would like to thank them for coming to visit us today and showing us all how to keep safe.

We learned how to listen for the smoke alarm. Please check that your smoke alarm is working. You can call the special number in our school newsletter to ask the firefighters to help you to check your alarm or even fit a new alarm for you.

We looked at all the hoses and taps on the fire engine. The firefighters need different hoses to put out fires in different places. They need to wear special clothes to keep safe while they are working.

RAK really enjoyed meeting the firefighters who keep us safe in our area.

Thank you fire fighters!!
