8.12.2017 - Collective Worship
Sunday 10th December is Human Rights Day. The children learnt about what Human Rights are and discussed how they are similar to the UNICEF Rights of the Child.
6.12.2017 - The School Nurse came and taught us about personal space and how to say 'no'.
Cornerstones Express to parents on 5th December was lovely. The children read their speeches with clear voices and enjoyed showing off all the knowledge they have gained about predators this half term.
RE - 5.12.2017 - Year 3 learnt about the Christian Christingle Service and enjoyed making their own Cristingles.

The Green Team did an assembly all about The Brighouse where we will be able to go out and see the countryside with our classes. They showed us how lovely it is out of the city and the wonderful things that nature holds for us. It taught us that we should be grateful for all of the gifts we have in life.

This week it will be Black History Day on Friday. Today we had an assembly telling us what Black History is all about. Each year group will be learning about a significant figure from Black History. Year 3 will be learning about Lenny Henry.
12.10.2017 PSHE was about First Aid that children can learn to help someone in an emergency when they need to call 999.
11.10.2017 Our Innovate Challenge for 'Tribal Tales' was to design and build a monument to worship inspired by Stone Henge.
12.10.2017 A visit from the school nurse encouraged Year 3 to think about their emotions.
10.10.2017 We are still learning how to play the glockenspiel to 'Let Your Spirit Fly'.
09.10.2017 Futsal training continued in Year 3 with a 'shoot-out' in our classes.
In English we are learning about explanation texts. First we have had to identify the features of an explanation text...can you?
Collective Worship - Harvest
Friday 6th October 2017
It was fantastic to watch 6SS perform their class assembly on Live Stream today. They performed confidently and delivered the message of harvest clearly. The children always enjoy spotting their brothers and sisters, cousins and friends in the streamed assemblies!
Collective Worship - Sukkot
Thursday 5th October 2017
Jewish people celebrate Sukkot which is just like the Christian Harvest Festival. Year 3 have been thinking about Harvest and raising money for the Red Cross to buy food for people in crisis around the world. We talked about Sukkot and how Jews decorate shelters at this time of year. The children brought in lots of food for Birmingham City Mission. Thank you parents.

Following assembly on Monday, the children discussed what Yom Kippur is and how it is good to be able to recognise the mistakes we make and be forgiven for them.

Bronze Age Traders - Tuesday 26th September 2017
As part of our topic Tribal Tales, the children took part in a role-play experience to find out how people in The Bronze Age traded their food and possessions with other tribes. It was a very loud lesson as they first had to choose a tribe leader before they could trade their goods!
No Outsiders in Year 3 was about celebrating how, although we look different, we are still similar on the inside.

RE - Zakah
Friday 22nd September 2017
The children learnt about Zakah, the third pillar of Islam, and chose which charity they would give to. They had lots of interesting reasons why they would give to those charities. As a year group, we have chosen to give to The Red Cross this year and are thinking of different ways to raise as much as we can.

Sarehole Mill
The children loved their visit to Sarehole Mill this week. They learnt about how people lived in the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.

Today we were thinking about how to be safe near roads. The children had many ideas about how to do this:
Eshal - Cars shouldn't park on the pavement.
Nawal - Look for the green man before you cross the road.
Iqra - Wait for the cars to stop before you cross the road.
Saliq - You should hold an adult's hand to cross the road.
Muzamel - Never cross on your own. Stay on the path.
Amirah - If a car is coming, look both ways before you cross the road.
Aqsa - Let the cars go and then you can cross.
Iqra - You shouldn't cross the road between parked cars.
Laibah - Use a zebra crossing to cross the road safely.
Marta V. - Wait for the cars to stop before crossing at a zebra crossing.
