Maths Day 7th January 2016.

On Thursday 7th January 2016, Alston school celebrated Maths day. We had great fun and enhanced our maths skills throughout the day. Children practised counting in multiples of 9, solved problems and even designed their own board games. We designed, measured and made our own pizza boxes. We also created logos for the boxes using 2d shapes and created up to 6 toppings for our pizzas. Yummy yummy!

Stone Age experience day

7th October 2015

Year 4 have learnt a lot today about the Stone Age period. They have had some hands on experiences of how the Stone Age people would have lived and what their lives would have been like. The children sketched some Stone Age tools and handled them to find out what they were like.

Black History Day

2nd October 2015

Year 4 studied Nelson Mandela. We looked into the work that he had completed to ensure that both black and white people were treated equally. We learnt about the ANC and how he spent lots of his life in prison. We ordered dates from his life and write some excellent biographies. We also coloured him in using the pop art style. Some of our fantastic work is below.
